Rev. William Roger Love Sr.

January 13, 1939 – September 8, 2023

Rev. William Roger Love Sr., 84, of Harlan, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 8, 2023.

He was born to the late Deering and Viola (Cunningham) Love on January 13, 1939, in Spencer, WV. Over more than thirty years of active ministry, he served under Rev. Michael J. Williams at the Pentecostals of Apopka in Apopka, FL, Rev. James E. Tharp at Christian Life Center in Kingsport, TN, and Rev. Richard Brown at Abundant Life in Fort Wayne, IN.

Elected to serve on November 20, 1997, he and his wife, Edie, faithfully pastored Lighthouse Charlottesville until September 1, 2013. Lighthouse experienced exponential growth and Apostolic revival during their pastorate, growing from a mere handful of members to a thriving congregation. Following his retirement from full-time pastorate in Charlottesville, he began making weekly trips to Danville, VA, helping to reestablish a flourishing Apostolic church in that city.

Bishop Love was perhaps best known as a soul winner. He loved people and was happiest witnessing, teaching, and discipling others. Many ministers and churches across Virginia have been impacted by his compassion for souls and willingness to share his soul-winning techniques with others.

Bill is survived by his wife, Beverly Love; sons, William (Marcella), Edward (Shellie), Tony (Devonia), Mark (Patricia) and daughter Candice; step-children, Lisa (Chris), Stacey (Jeremy), Cindy (Ben), Janet (Glen), Brent (Linda), Verne, Ronnie (Angie), Stanley (Jodi); 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Idonna) and a host of relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edie Love (Martin-Douglas); siblings, Jack Love, Wanda McCrady, Shirley Moss, Linda Hagerman, and Karen Schwender.

All are invited to join the Lighthouse Charlottesville family as we honor the life and legacy of our beloved bishop on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Charlottesville.
